If I have a 50 liter container that holds 45 moles of gas at a temperature of 472K, what is the pressure
inside the container? Solving for "p"
Gas variables provided are;
V= 50L
n=45 moles
T= 472K
P=unknown
Using the Ideal Gas Laws expression PV=nRT
P=nRT/V, where R=0.0821 atm.L/mol.K
Substituting for the variables in the above equation
P= [(45 mol ×0.0821 atm.L)/mol.K ×472K]/50L,* mol cancels out, K cancels out.
P= 1743.804 atm.L/50L,* L cancels out
P= 34.876 atm , approximately equals to 35 atm ( 2 sig.figures)
Therefore pressure P = 35 atm.
