Determine the number of moles of magnesium chloride produced when 5.0 mol of HCl is combined with excess Mg(OH)2

Balanced equation would be;

Mg(OH)2 + 2HCl - MgCl2 + 2H2O

for every two moles of HCl reacting, one mile of MgCl2 is a product.

Therefore if 5moles of HCl is used 2.5 moles of MgCl2 is produced.

= 2.5 moles of MgCl2
