Question #230853

I hope this finds you all well!

Information:

I would like to know how to calculate the percent purity of a precious metal after it's been smelted. ( I provided the information for whats being smelted below)

Silver quarters weigh 6.25 grams and are composed of 90% silver, 10% copper, with a total silver weight of either:

0.1808479 troy ounces pure silver.

or

0.198415981714 ounces pure silver.

Question:

let's say we have 1lbs of silver quarters listed above. Using proper temperatures to separate the copper during smelting how does one calculate the % purity of the silver after you pour?

Thank you for your help everyone.
