Answer to Question #113427 in General Chemistry for nayeong

Question #113427
1. It has 150 ml of 100% methanol (CH3OH). The density of methanol is 0.791 g / ml and the molecular weight is 32.04 g / mol. This methanol is intended to be added to a concentration of 30 mM in a 500 ml culture medium. Answer the following questions. (However, the number of significant figures is 3 digits.)

(1) Find the molar concentration of methanol.

(2) Find the volume of methanol to be added to the culture medium.

2. Using a 0.7M K2HPO4 stock solution and a 0.4M KH2PO4 stock solution, we are going to make 150ml of 0.3M phosphate buffer with a pH of 7.3. (However, pKa = 7.2)

(1) Pair acid: Pair base:

(2) Use the Hederson-Hasselbalch equation to find the volume of the conjugate acid and conjugate base to be added. (However, the number of significant figures is 3 digits.)
