what happens to the visible light when following are placed in its path

(a) White solid

All frequencies are reflected, then it appears white

(b) Black solid

The color black occurs when all wavelengths of light that hit an object are absorbed. We are used to seeing this occur in white light when a black object appears that color because it absorbs all wavelengths of white light.

(c) Red solid

The solid that appears red absorbs yellow, green, blue and violet light, while reflecting red light

(d) Colourless liquid

When light encounters a colourless liquid, almost all of it passes directly through it.
