Production of a certain protein in a living cell is a complex process that is controlled by various internal and external factors. However, the gene expression level is a primary process that determines, controls, and directs protein production. Activation of multiple signaling pathways in the cytoplasm may influence gene expression - this process may increase or decrease. As a result, the level of specific mRNA may also change in a particular direction. Increased expression of a specific gene is associated with a high level of mRNA production and enhanced protein synthesis on the ribosomes and vice versa.
