when an animal cell is placed in a hypertonic solution and water enters via osmosis, the volume of the cell increases until it bursts. this does not happen to plant cells because..?

This does not happen to plant cells because plant cells have cell wall, which creates wall pressure. It limits cell expansion, and thus, the cell cannot burst.
