Most sub-cellular structures, such as endoplasmic reticulum, lysosomes, and Golgi apparatus, are hardly visible under the light microscope without special staining. At the same time, studying of these organelles requires identification of their fine organization. Light microscope, which suggests the application of visible light waves cannot provide the sufficient resolving power for clear visualization of tiny details of sub-cellular structures. Therefore, electron microscopy is used, because electron beams allow for creation of significantly higher resolving power.
