The components of digestive system are stomach, the small intestine, and the pancreas. These are organs because they are structures fromed by several types of tissue, which work together for the common function. They all have layers of connective tissue, forming a capsule around them. The stoach and the small intestine have a thick layer of smooth muslce tissue, which provides food mixing and peristalsis. The pancreas has glandular epithelim for synthesis of hormones and digestive juices. The cavity of each organ is lined with specific type of epithelial tissue, contributing to the specific functions of each one. Stomach is responsible for protein digestion. It secretes pepsin and hydrochloric acid for breakdown of protein into peptides. Pancreas produces trypsin, lipase, and amylase for the digestion of peptides, lipids, and carbohydrates in the small intestine, where they are absorbed into blood.
