Question #20444

hello,
My question is about nerves in skin and specially (touch)
Q:why do our skin feel heat faster than cool?
or in another form
if we kept our hands in two pots one is boiled water and the other is a very cold water in the same time exactly why would we take out our hand in the boiled water before the cold one?

Expert's answer

Opposite to your statement, it is well known thatour skin on hands is more sensitive to cold. It s because of the fact that cold receptors are situated closer to the surface and their density is higher in derm in comparison with the hot receptors.
