I have a biology question. What happens after you put nail polish on a leaf does the stomata open or close. How does this affect the transpiration rate?

The stomata will be close and the transpiration will reduce indeed. The reason: when the environment threatens to dry the plant out too much, the plant closes its stomata to retain as much water as it can.
