describe the nature strength and formation of the following types of chemical bonds and give example of the compound in which they each of them occur
(a) covalent bond
(b) Hydrogen bonds
(c) ionic bonds
a) Covalent bonds occur between atoms which share a pair of electrons. The example includes carbon dioxide where two oxygen atoms form covalent bonds with one carbon atom.
b) Hydrogen bonds are formed between partial negative charge of an electronegative atom and a partially positive hydrogen atom. The example includes intermolecular interactions between water molecules.
c) Ionic bonds occur between negative and positively charged ions (atoms or molecules). For example, sodium chloride is an ionic compound where sodium is in the form of positively charged ion (cation) and chloride is a negatively charged ion (anion).
