How can we keep the application of recombinant DNA technologies ethica as a scientist, student, and as a citizen?

It is considered that recombinant DNA technology goes against the laws of nature (or against religious beliefs), due to how much control this technology gives humans over the most basic buildings blocks of life. Therefore, using this techonolgy to improve peoples' lives, but not to replicate it - that is a way of obeying ethical concerns.
