Question #133950

If you were given a wilted, potted plant, how would you determine whether it was in a state of incipient wilting?

Expert's answer

The incipient wilting is a temporary loss of turgor in a plant caused by extensive transpiration. This is a reversible process occuring when enough moisture is present in the soil. As a result, placing of the plant into humid atmosphere (100 percent relative humidity) will cause plant recovering. This will help to identify if the wilting is reversible (incipient).
