Landslides and mudslides are associated with the movements of the earth, debris, ricks, and water down a slope. The speed, force, pressure, distances, and other characteristics of the landslides and mudslides are directly caused by the amounts of potential energy stored in the debris and rock masses. This energy directly depends on the amount of water and solid materials while characteristics of the slope significantly contribute to the transformation of potential to kinetic energy associated with the movements of the landslides and mudslides. As a result, mass and energy relation is important to characterize the force and speed of the landslides and mudslides, as well as predict the consequence of these processes.
