When a person has low blood pressure, the kidney will synthesize and release renin. Renin, in turn, will convert angiotensinogen to angiotensin I. angiotensin I will also be converted into biologically active angiotensin II by the ACE produced in the lung. Aldosterone is one of the linked hormones, and they create a system of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone. This system is activated when a person has low blood pressure due to a hemorrhage or a decrease of blood flow in the kidney due to blood volume loss.
