Muscle loss is generally caused by lack of physical activity due to injury or illness, poor nutrition or genetics. There are other factors that may contribute to this condition known as muscle atrophy. It may be caused by long periods of inactivity or other medical reasons.

This condition may be cured through physical therapy, functional electric simulation, focused ultrasound and finally through surgery.
