The group of myelinated nerve fibers that are responsible for the transmission of from the brain to the brainstem and to the effector muscles are known as descending pathways. These are classified as voluntary and involuntary tracts. The descending pathway that controls the pain can be facilitatory as well as inhibitory both. The pathways that enhances pain perception are known as facilitatory pathways where the pathway that suppresses pain perception are known as inhibitory pathways .

Hence, the given statement is true.
