How many bones are in the Skeletal System?

The count includes 6 auditory ossicles, considers that the sternum, sacrum, coccyx, abd the hyoid are unitary bones and excludes sesamoid ossicles and teeth. However, the number of separate bones is higher in children and young adults and is lower in the elderly.
