Genetic code is a nucleotide base sequence of DNA (and subsequently on mRNA by transcription) which will be translated into a sequence of amino acids of the protein to be synthesized. Characteristics of the genetic code are: - triplet code; - comma less; - non-overlapping code; - the coding dictionary; - degenerate code; - universality of code; - non ambiguous code; - chain ignition code; - chain termination codons.
