Balanced lethal is a true-breeding heterozygous organism maintained in a stable state through the existence of different lethals on each of a pair of homologous chromosomes and resulting in loss of all homozygotes.
I don't get this definition completely. Does this mean that balanced lethal is an organism which survives due to the existence of heterozygosity of lethal alleles?
