Genotype value is the average phenotype of those carrying the specified gene/trait that have an effect on the production of an individual. Gene combination is part of an organism's genotypic value that is as a result of gene combinations via dominance and epistasis and are not transmitted to progenies from parents. Breeding value is the sum of average effects of a alleles on the production of progenies in a breeding. Breeding values are often expressed as a deviation from the mean of the mean of a population that is dependent on the genotype values and frequencies such that an animal with a rare allele will have a higher positive or negative breeding value.
