1) Can you find a word in another language that would never occur in English (i.e. it violates one of English’s phonotactic constraints)? What’s the word, and why would it never occur in English? Eg. /waɪtkp/ ‘hello (to a group)’ in Secwepemctsín has three consonants t-k-p beside each other, which would not be allowed in English. 2) Discuss in your own words why second language learners make predictable errors based on their first language (for example, Serbian learners of English would make the same errors as Dr. Todorović).
