Once the EIA screening process is completed, there are four possible decisions which can be taken in terms of the future/path of the proposed development. The four decisions are:  a) go ahead; b) basic EIA required;  c) full EIA required; and d) no-go.   
Evaluate the following hypothetical scenarios and in each case select the most probable decision. Your answer should include the chosen decision and an explanation on what that decision entails, as well as a justification on why that decision is the most likely outcome. 
Proposed developments: 
2.1. A nuclear power station located close to a protected area. The proposed location is also known for the regular occurrence of seismic activity.  
 
2.5. A new harbour on the west coast of South Africa is being planned in order to increase the import and export of goods. This new harbour will decrease the pressure currently placed on existing harbours. The harbour will not only be of service to South Africa, but also to its neighbouring countries.
