Both theories analysed the evolution of the society and were founded on the premises of the survival for the fittest organisms.
Spenser believed in survival for the fittest such that the process of natural selection would result in the survival of the best competitors.
Durkheim on the other hand believes that a society acquires organic solidarity after it has finished development.
Just like Spenser, Durkheim compared the society with the living organism where every organ has a role to play to keep the being alive.
