Compare and Contrast the Postmodernism and Development (PAD) and Women and Development (WAD)
Postmodernism being innate under western secular conditions has the following characteristics: it stresses pluralism and relativism discarding any certain belief and absolute value. It battles with essentialism, and contemplates human identity to be a social construct. It also rejects the idea that values are based on developmental realities and also rejects the essential influence of human actions on human destiny. WAD (Women and Development) concept, on the other hand, is based on recognition of the importance of the roles and status of women in development process. It is meant to give special attention to the women's role, while extending development assistance
