Provide a definition of democracy, then discuss the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the notion of democracy in South Africa.
Democracy is a form of government in which the entire population or all eligible members of a state are represented by elected representatives.
Because political space will be limited in some nations, some governments that are not devoted to democracy will try to bolster the executive branch's authority by using the epidemic as a pretext. However, I am confident that in countries committed to democratic governance, leaders, elected officials political party leaders, and civic leaders will find ways to collaborate with their respective election commissions so that inclusive processes can be implemented, with everyone contributing to how elections and other political processes are managed during COVID-19.
