The gender inequality in South Africa is expounded by the Poststructuralist Theory. The South African Structure defends all people's rights and inspires equal defense under the law, as well as liberty from discernment based on gender, sex, pregnancy, or marital status. The focus of poststructuralist theory is on the way that gender inequalities are produced and maintained at the level of institutions, organizations, and social structures. The theory also focuses on multiple perspectives and opens clarification, opens up space for female voices of the past and present, and decomposes realist historical narrative.

This theory explains about gender inequality because as per to structuralism human knowledge and understanding is derived from linguistic signs that operate socially and unconsciously in binary oppositions such as man or woman.
