“In phenomenology, philosophers of education reject the notion that teachers and learners should work together towards the achievement of certain educational outcomes in favour of the felt or lived experiences in the classroom” (Higgs & Smith, 2017). Discuss this statement and indicate to what extent you agree or disagree with the statement. [10]
The phenomenology of education examines the individual lived experience of the world. The experience can be manipulated or misinterpreted to change the original meaning of the experience due to rapidly changing technology and economic system. Therefore I agree with the statement because young learners who are not well informed can be easy monopolized with people whom they frequently interact with through social media or one on one contact and force them or convince them to believe different meaning of a certain lived experience and hence make learning more difficult.
