The American flag is a material culture that symbolizes the peace, freedom, and bravery of Americans. therefore the countercultures used to burn the American flag to protest against the government policies while other American citizens perceived the burning of the flag as a deviant action and thus rushed to the court to defy the flag-burning amendment. Later the Congress approved the federal flag desecration norms that anyone found in interfering with the flag by either burning or trampling will be sentenced to prison for not more than one year
