Thor stein Veblen is an economist and sociologist who lived from 1857 to 1929, Thorstein Veblen was well known for his book titled the theory of leisure Class, in his theory, he introduced the term conspicuous consumption which is used to refer to the class of people especially these who own the mean of production or business leaders and how they consume their resources carelessly in luxury life that doesn't contribute to the development of the society. Moreover, Thorstein Veblen believed that people of the upper class are exempted from industrial jobs and reserved for specific jobs that suit their social class, for instance, children born of highly-ranking political leaders such as the president, the prime minister, governors among others are always privileged to acquire significantly jobs in the government such as ministers, presidential advisers, and others even if they do not qualify for them, therefore spending their income and resources on luxury goods and lifestyle such as big cars that consume a lot of petrol, expensive houses, clubbing and others that do not add any good for the society.
