Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, also known as Nomzamo Winifred Madikizela and Nkosikazi Nobandle Nomzamo Madikizela, was a South African social worker and activist who died on April 2, 2018, in Johannesburg, South Africa. On September 26, 1936, she was born in Bizana, Pondoland district, Transkei [now in Eastern Cape], South Africa. Nelson Mandela's second wife divorced him in 1992 due to her unpredictable conduct and uncontrolled militancy, which alienated other anti-apartheid activists, including her husband. Makoto Modjadji VI (Makobo Caroline Modjadji; 1978–2006) was the Balobedu tribe's sixth Rain Queen.

Makoto Modjadji is claimed to have had the ability to control the weather and rivers. As a result, she became the youngest Queen of the Balobedu tribe. Madikizela-Mandela was the one who reminded the country and the world that racial injustice against Africans must be addressed. She remained on the front lines of the liberation movement, not just for political prisoners but also for South Africa's 40 million Black and people of colour.
