Cosmopolitanism is the belief that all people are members of a single community. Cosmopolitan citizenship education is a transformative approach to education that empowers students to become global citizens by active participation in local, national, and global communities while also working to better the world around them. From an early age, the cosmopolitan approach to citizenship education seeks to teach children how to think critically and participate in society decisions. Human and citizen rights are inextricably intertwined. The cosmopolitanism approach encompasses a socially constructed viewpoint endorsing cosmopolitan goals and activities, a position of openness and or tolerance toward other people's ideologies, an anticipation of historical movement toward global peace, and a recognition with the entire globe or with humanity at large that includes local commitments. It contributes to the creation of an engaged and responsible populace, one that is willing to participate in the nation's and world's affairs as well as participate in the democratic process.
