Recently, South Africa has undergone various economic, social, and political changes that have been influenced by the change in the educational system. The learner that this country would produce some years ago did not meet the requirements of the changing world. When this nation reentered the world’s economy, a significant concern arose that the country would not produce individuals that would equally compete with their counterparts in the rest of the world to produce cost-efficient and quality goods. This issue required to be addressed since a country’s economic strength depends on human capital and economic capital. As a result, the people of South Africa needed to be developed as individuals with skills, knowledge, entrepreneurial activities, and attitudes that fitted the outside world. The educational system of South Africa was therefore transformed. As for the political forces, South Africa's education moved away from the inequality and segregation of some individuals. Schools instead became a central institution that developed a new culture of tolerance. As a result, schools developed a more participatory and democratic structure that would assist learners with the attitudes and skills that would help them critically participate, eradicate prejudices and promote tolerance of differences. The social aim of education in South Africa is to break free from any cases of stereotyping and prejudice and to showcase a global move towards a world that values spiritual aspects of an individual’s existence.
