1. Discuss the social construction of gender in India. Explain the social process and structures which create and perpetuate women’s subordination. How have gender roles been impacted by the pandemic?
The social construction of gender is egalitarianism and sociological theory that scrutinizes how cultural roots, processes, and cognates of gender perception and expression exhibit themselves in interpersonal and group social interactions. In Indian society, women are seen as inferior and get second-class treatment. Her life is supposed to center around the interests of her family, followed by those of her husband and his family. She is trained to be submissive, denied access to education and chances to pursue her own goals, and kept out of decision-making. The COVID 19 epidemic has impacted gender roles in the sense that it has exacerbated women's financial reliance on male family members, reinforcing patriarchal family rules. As a result of the increased financial stress, there has been a dramatic increase in domestic violence incidents.
