Enlightenment refers to the era or a movement of developments of intelligence that started in Britain and France between the 1680s and 1789. The development of sociology was prompted by the enlightenment influenced by the classical theories and philosophical ideas of renowned thinkers. Sociology was first described by Auguste Comte as a discipline that involves association among people. Sociology became into existence when questions erupted to address factors that existed in the society such as economic advancement, industrialization, urbanization, and other interactions. A group of philosophers, thinkers, economists, and scientists introduced varieties of ideas and a lot of criticisms to address the issues that existed in society. Among the key personalities that contributed to the development of sociology included Karl Max, René Descartes, Isaac Newton
