I need a model answer on these questions:
1.Explain the Moser Framework.Use examples to support this
2.Discuss WID and GAD using examples.
3.Explain the Marxist and Functionalist perspective on gender.
Moser Framework is a gender analysis tool in gender and development planning. It favors a gender-planning perspective that applies to every development endeavor. The gender planning objective is to ensure women are liberated from their achievement of equity, equality, and empowerment, and their subordination. For example, a couple could take a child to daycare to give the mother time to go to work
Women in Development (WID) stresses the importance of women participating in the development process. This perspective argues that more successful policies will be the result of involving women actively in policy making. The approach of Gender and Development (GAD) is not concerned with women specifically but in the manner in which expectations, responsibilities and roles are assigned by society. Gender analysis applied by GAD illustrates ways that women and men participate together in development. The results are presented in a neutral way of efficiency and economics.
Marxism’s perspective is concerned with the inequality that results from class relations and capitalism. It understands that oppression results from class inequality in capitalist societies. The functionalists’ perspective argues that inequalities in gender help in efficiently creating a social system, or division of labor. This theory supports the idea that particular acts of labor are to be conducted by a particular population segment. For feminists, functionalism does not recognize the suppression of women within the family.
