When people experience inequalities in the society they are subjected to unequal opportunities and benefits. Inequalities lead to unequal distribution of resources in terms of wealth, rewards, opportunities or punishments. There are various effects and consequences that arise when people experience inequalities. They include violence, poor child well being, low literacy levels, poverty, mental illnesses, increased cases of drug abuse and lower social mobility. Moreover, when there is inequality in the society trust and cohesion among members of the community is affected immensely.
