A symbolic interactionist focuses on developed relationships amongst various individuals in the society. Such individuals often look for interaction patterns between various individuals and their focus entails the observation of interactions that are one-to-one. For instance, a symbolic interactionist is likely to analyze how protesting or resistant groups interact with each other rather than their differences in class. It is the interaction that creates meaning to events and symbols. For example, the symbol of a wife is given meaning following the relationships between the wife and the husband.
