A child with disability should receive counselling in a manner that allows them to achieve their highest potential in academics, personal growth, social growth, and career development. This can be achieved by working with the child in various settings to encourage their growth. These settings include individual counselling, group counselling with their families. Individual counselling should aim at developing the child’s esteem, which is essential for their academic, personal and career growth and development. Group counselling allows the child to develop their social skills.
