There are many individuals who view punishment (both positive and negative) as a necessary teaching method. This can vary from one culture to another as well as from one individual to the next. What are your views on using punishment in order to reduce unwanted behaviors? In what situations is it OK, and in what situations should it be discouraged? Provide examples and references, if appropriate.
In my opinion, punishment is an essential part of teaching. When a child is still young, it tends to do whatever comes across its mind ,be it good or bad. This may go against the wish of the tutor. The first remedy is to warn the child of consequence if it repeats the mistake. If the child doesn't listen then punishment is suitable though controlled one.
Punishment, although it could give impressive results is at times not suitable. If the child cannot learn even when punishment is used, other ways should be employed in the place of punishment. If for example it is causing bodily harm to the kid, other methods should be employed. If for example the punishment is to run, and the child is having breathing problems, it should be disbanded immediately.
