Name and briefly describe the three (3) propositions found at both the conscious and the unconscious world of the clients
The following are three propositions, which are found both at the conscious and unconscious World of the client: The self, frames of reference, and conditions for change.
The self is about how the client sees himself. The self means a person`s conception of who he is as a person, as a unique human being. So in order to understand the person, we have to understand the self, or the perception of who that person believes himself to be, in the here and now. The self-comprises various experiences like perceptions, needs, behavior, emotions and values which are not static, but continuously changing. The fact that these experiences change means that the self is also not static.
Frames of reference
It states that the best point to understand the behavior of the person is from the internal frame of reference of the person himself. This also applies to the client's needs, which motivate behavior, and emotions, which accompany and facilitate behavior. The frame of reference also refers to people's perceptions.
Conditions for change
For this proposition, a facilitator should not under any circumstance threaten the self-structure of the client. In other words, he should not threaten people's ideas of themselves or who they perceive themselves to be. A facilitator needs to create a safe environment in which clients are free to express themselves fully.
