From an African perspective, the ecocultural theory suggested that the person's environments, that is, the lived social setting and ethos, play an essential role in human development, which by effect. Culture is based on the environment, and that Western concepts of human development are not capable of conveying the African viewpoint. Research indicates that various dissimilarities between the Western and African standpoints, for instance. In contrast, the Western perspective appears to have an individualistic nature of the growth and development of the individual. The African stance is socialist since society is dominant to the child's development; therefore, the probability that family and community could impact the child's decision-making and general well-being.
