Pashtun culture is centred on an ancient way of life, including speaking the Pashto and dressing in Pashtun clothing. Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory is a communication framework that uses a structure drawn from component analysis to highlight the impacts of a society's culture on its members' values and how these values connect to behaviour. Hofstede created his original model after examining the findings of a global poll of employee values using factor analysis. Since then, it has been fine-tuned. The original idea proposed three dimensions to examine cultural values along individualism-collectivism; uncertainty avoidance, social hierarchy's power distance, and masculinity-femininity. The following are the dimensions of cultures:
•The power distance index (PDI) measures how far less powerful members of organizations and institutions, such as families, accept and expect unequal power distribution. In this dimension, the followers sense inequity and power. A higher Index score implies that society's hierarchy has been firmly defined and is being followed without question or justification. A lower Index indicates that people are questioning authority and attempting to redistribute power.
•Individualism vs collectivism (IDV): This debate examines how people in a society are organized into groups. Individualistic societies have weak links that frequently only connect a person to his or her own family.
•Uncertainty avoidance (UAI) is defined as a society's tolerance for ambiguity, in which people either welcome or avoid an unexpected event. Societies with high scores on this index have strict standards of conduct, guidelines, and rules, and they often rely on absolute truth. A lower score in this rating indicates more tolerance for opposing viewpoints or ideas. Thus, society has fewer regulations, people are more accustomed to uncertainty, and the environment is more free-flowing.
