Ethnicity and culture also influence pain perception and the ways of responding to it. For example, the white populace tends to be less sensitive to pain than other individuals from other ethnic cultures. Gender has a role in pain perception. It appears that men report less pain and inferior pain levels than women. Notably, in many cultures, men's personalities are nurtured to be tougher than women's. Lastly, emotions influence pain perception. When persons have a positive mood, they tend to feel pain reduction. Therefore, negative moods among humanity intensify the experience of pain.
