give a summary of the psychodynamic perspective and what are the criticisms of the psychodynamic perspective?
The psychodynamic view includes several explanations that describe the creation of both regular and abnormal personalities in terms of mental dynamics. These complexities include causes of inspiration, effects, latent thought patterns, confrontation and defensive mechanisms.
Psychoanalytical theories have made us conscious, recalled or not, of the influence of early childhood memories on further progress. The principal argument is that psychoanalytical philosophy is subjective and outside the limits of empirical research.
One of the weaknesses of the psychodynamic approach is its deterministic nature. This is a flaw since the behavior is predetermined and individuals have no free will. The psychosexual phases are an indication of this. The biological method has one strength: it is highly empirical.
