Q 1. What is the significance of “Research” in different fields of Psychology? Elaborate your answer
It is through research that we understand why people feel, think, and act in certain ways. It allows psychologists to classify psychological disorders so as to better understand varying symptoms and their impact on individuals and society at large. Psychologists also use research to understand behavior, as well as the mental and psychological processes that inspire it.
When compared to other methods used to understand the behavior of others, scientific research stands out as there is always evidence to back a claim. This is due to the fact that it is empirical meaning that it is based on objective, tangible proof that is readily available. However, unlike behavior that is observable, the mind is not. The psychologist therefore must come up with creative ways for understanding behavior.
