Reflect and respond

Bin Laden's fatwa issued on February 23rd, 1998, stated jihad was a duty of every Muslim and that jihad should target the U.S. and Israel. According to Clint Watts, a senior fellow of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, "Up to bin Laden's death, al Qaeda's focus pointed directly at the U.S. Today, al Qaeda affiliates primarily focus on developing local operational space and bases of support." Moving forward, do you feel these affiliates will automatically focus their strategic objectives on attacking the U.S., or will their focus be more distributed to a number of "far enemies"? Defend your answer..
