Software architect is someone who are entitled to design a software application based on requirements both functional and non-functional like project development speed,

resource utilization etc.

This requirements are provided to SW Architect by a Business Analyst or sometimes business users/clients which is not the case most of the cases.

Sp based on the provided requirements, the SW Architect takes into consideration about the technical environment like standard and approved software,

operating system which will be required, databases etc.

The SW Architect also have to consider the SDLC models like waterfall, agile etc whichever is sutiable.

The most important thing to condiser here is , they ensure the system works with other interfacing systems.

SW Architect are adviced by some extend mainly by the enterprise architects.

Now coming to,Technical architect , this is typically a role often used in IT service companies.

Lets understand that they supposed to do.

They are responsible for working with the IT team of the clients/other vendors/their own onsite teams to ensure that the software developed are aligned

to the functional and nonfunctional requirements.

They create design specs for the software including features and capabilities.

They also guide the developers to create unit test cases.

They may guide the testers to develop test cases. They often work with the Business Analyst.

Note that the role may have a managerial responsibilities in certain companies/projects/clients.
