Describe a fake login management scenario. Identify several authentication practices. Are passwords becoming obsolete?
A fake login attempt is when a threat actor attempts to login into somebody's account using another device or from a different location raising an login attempt warning to the user usually through an email that they tried to login from another device. e.g. A threat actor might send a phishing link to your email leading you to a false website/login page so to steal authentication details.
Types of authentication practices:
something you know: like a password or PIN
something you have: like a smart card
something you are the biometrics e.g. fingerprints.
I think passwords are becoming obsolete since passwords alone cannot keep accounts safe in this information age we need other forms of authentication to supplement the passwords. Multi Factor authentication like SMS or email token authentication or a biometric authentication to supplement passwords.
